Background
I began my medical studies and practice as an Optician - those early years were the beginnings of my insight into the human body and the nature of disease in the body - as it affects vision and literally 'how we see the world'. The effects of stress and degeneration, together with the bidirectional effects of 'affected eyesight' on: lifestyle choices, personal image and emotional well being.
Following this and after many years in corporate business and consulting, I find that my path leads me to return back to my first tuition, education and ultimately that of helping people through working with their body's health - this is a great revival for me.
I am excited and awed by the gentleness of Cranio Sacral Therapy and the musculoskeletal rebalancing brought about by Osteopathy - and further grateful to the power of this kind of healing work.
The Beginning
A few years back I had a ladder collapse under me - a 'fall from height'. After a couple of surgeries and a week in hospital I went to see my Cranio Sacral Therapist, she put her hands on my cranium and pronounced: 'Your bones are dead' - my musculoskeletal system was in a state of physical shock, there was no vibration, no fluid movement in which otherwise, should be a vital system. I was intrigued by the practice of Cranio Sacral Therapy, just by placing hands on your ankles or head, the Therapist can tell you what was going on in my body!
Through Cranio Sacral Therapy, I became more aware of..., able to listen to... and came to know... what my body needs in the moment.
We can also call it mindfulness, embodiment and awareness.
My Approach
I take an integrated approach to healing, and deeply acknowledge the interconnectedness of body, mind and spirit. Working with the nervous system and the natural rhythms of tissues and fluids, Cranio Sacral Therapy treatments create the optimal conditions for healing and a sense of well being. We talk about the inherent ability of the body to heal itself through the support and stillness brought by the Therapist for your own body to recognise itself.
My practice incorporates other healing modalities, lessons from life on well being, practical encouragement to seek out the answers for yourself and an invitation to meet yourself on a wonderful journey of knowing and health.
Practicing as a Cranio Sacral Therapist + Osteopath
Our meeting in a treatment is first with Cranio Sacral Therapy; where 'Cranio' allows for a deeper understanding of the feeling of long held emotions and/or the reflection of physical imbalances - as both are expressed in the body. And then, where needs be addressed, with Osteopathy; where the principles allow for a deeper clinical understanding of fascial and manual manipulation, together with the pathology and diagnosis of disease.
In a treatment session, the subtleness of Cranio Sacral Therapy - with it's exquisite sensitivity and perception, that allows for discerning the specific patterns of the sacral and cranial bones, is brought together with the in-depth anatomical and physiological knowledge and manual therapy of the body-work of Osteopathy.

About
Cranial Osteopathy is a 'therapy of touch', a light gentle listening touch. I listen to what your body is ready to tell me and I support it in making shifts – musculoskeletal, nervous system, emotional and energy shifts. It may sound woo-woo to some. I wouldn’t have believed it until I experienced it in myself and as I now witness the physical and emotional benefits through the healing in patients.
Come as a skeptic if you like. Let’s see what your body has to say - when you’re ready.
